Bitmain, a leading manufacturer of mining hardware, has launched its latest ASIC miner, the Antminer S23, promising a 20% boost in energy efficiency. Announced on March 19, 2025, the release targets miners seeking to offset rising electricity costs.
According to TechBit News, the Antminer S23 achieves a hashrate of 150 TH/s while consuming just 25 J/TH, a significant improvement over its predecessor. “This is about staying profitable in a tough market,” said Bitmain’s product director, Kevin Zhang.
“Miners need efficiency now more than ever,” Zhang added. “The S23 is built for the post-halving era.”
The launch comes as UK miners face energy prices averaging 25p per kWh, with pre-orders opening at $3,500 per unit. Bitmain claims the S23 will support Bitcoin and select altcoins, broadening its appeal.
As of March 19, 2025, at 5:36 AM PDT, Bitcoin trades at $88,500, down 5% over the week. Early reviews suggest the S23 could lift mining profitability by 10-15%, sparking a 4% rise in Bitmain’s partner stock values.
