ViaBTC

Overview

ViaBTC is a major mining pool launched in 2016, supporting big coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. It’s known for reliability and a hybrid payout system that appeals to steady miners.

Usability

Signing up is quick, and the website is easy to navigate—pools, stats, and wallet details are all front and center. The mobile app is a bonus for checking hashrates or withdrawing funds on the go. It’s not software like Hive OS, so you’ll need your own mining client.

Features

ViaBTC offers PPS+ (pay per share plus transaction fees) and PPLNS payout options, giving miners flexibility. It also has a built-in accelerator for BTC transactions and supports merged mining for some altcoins.

Performance

Connected with an Antminer S19, I saw consistent payouts and uptime—99.9% by their metrics, and I had no disconnects over a month. Transaction fee bonuses added a small but welcome boost to profits.

Fees

The 4% PPS+ fee (or 2% for PPLNS) is standard for big pools but higher than Slush Pool’s 2%. No withdrawal fees, though, which is nice.

Pros

  • Reliable with high uptime.
  • PPS+ payouts include transaction fees.
  • Good mobile app.

Cons

  • Fees are on the higher side.
  • Support can be slow to respond.

Verdict

ViaBTC is a dependable choice for miners who value stability and don’t mind the fees. It’s a close competitor to F2Pool or Slush Pool, especially for BTC and ETH miners, though cost-conscious users might shop around.
